What is your morning beauty routine?
Coffee is first every morning and then a quick look at my cell and emails. I then plan the day out with my husband and my twin sons (my daughter is in college). Exercise is important for my mental health – so I either ride my stationary bike at home or do a floor/toning class (usually barre or sculpt) with my trainer, Cynthia Webb. Shower, then grab breakfast on the go (a cup of cold “MUSH” or a protein bar) and drive into Santa Monica to my studio office + FYFE Beauty HQ.
My morning beauty routine consists of many things, however, I have it down to an exact science. Post shower, I wash my face using a gentle foaming cleanser like Dr. Barbara Sturm Foaming Cleanser, Sisley’s Radiance Foaming Cream or Caudalié’s Instant Foaming Cleanser. Then I pat my face down and pop on my Eye Masks. While those are on, I add a moisturizer like Tammy Fender Celestial Rose Creme or GOOP’s Glow Lotion around the other areas of my face and neck then use my Gold Bar for 10 minutes to smooth and tighten my face, neck and directly over the eye masks to depuff and contour. It immediately makes me look refreshed and awake. After the Gold Bar and once I remove my eye masks, I use a toner (Yon-Ka Paris Dry Skin Toner), a face oil (Augustinus Bader The Face Oil) a mist (Omorovicza Budapest’s Queen of Hungary Mist), a face primer (Colleen Rothschild’s Black Tourmaline Face Primer) and SPF (Elta MD’s clear sunscreen or iS Clinical’s Eclipse SPF50) before makeup. For body, I really like Meaningful Beauty Body Lotion, Sisley Body Lotions and GOOP Glow Lotion. I switch it up all the time. I use a cocktail mix of Virtue Healing oil on the ends of my hair and Oribe Styling creme and leave with damp clean hair. I like to f#@k it up as the day goes on. It gets better the more I twist it.
What products do you use throughout the day and why?
From my JD brand, I love Sunny, Petal and Poppy Cheek Tints on my cheeks (layered or just one shade) and then I use my Shell Lid Tint for my upper cheekbone highlight. I switch off between my line of Lid Tints depending on what I am wearing. They are so fast and finger-friendly they take no time at all, that’s part of the beauty of it! I am addicted to Ruby, Peach, Bronze, Glimmer and Dew and I mix them with my Khol Eyeliners for a sultry smudged effect. For the Khol Eyeliners shades, I use Rich Brown for my upper and lower eyelids and Jet Black for my upper tightline. This is my favorite technique. Next, a quick hit of mascara (I am currently on the hunt for the best one ever made to date), a little Cle De Peau concealer if I need to touch up my under eyes, Shu Uemura Hard Formula Eyebrow Pencil on my brows followed by a clear brow gel. For lips, I wear a variety of lip balms (Sisley, Nuxe, Tatcha, Dr. Barbara Sturm & Chantecaille). I’ve also been really loving Rinna Beauty lip gloss for a final hint of color!
What is your evening beauty routine?
After I get through the dinner rush, the family usually winds down by reading or watching a favorite program. Sometimes I work on my projects like painting, sculpting and designs. Just depends on my mood. For evening skincare, I remove mascara and concealer with a makeup remover, then switch out washing with a facial wash like IS Clinical or Shani Darden to make sure the day pollutants are off. I use an under eye cream (Paul Scerri Eye Contour Corrector Cream), a serum (Retrouvé Nutrient Face Serum), a retinol twice a week (Shani Darden has a light one), moisturizers (above), a facial oil (Prism Plump It Up Squalane Oil from Prism Botanics) and mists, and neck creams! I use the Natura Bissé neck cream. I am a full- on junkie. Oh and a lip balm for night time (Nuxe Rêve de Miel Ultra Nourishing Lip Balm or Tatcha Kissu Lip Mask) and body lotions. That’s it! Before bed I always kiss my family and tell them I love them.
