Some women stroll. And some women strut. While others seem to glide along. A lot of them in rather femme silhouetted dresses, and all with a unique style that stands out on the mean streets. But it makes you wonder – who’s wearing dresses in New York City on a daily basis? Is it as easy at it seems? Or is it just for fashion week?
Flowing frocks used to be our only option – but now seem to be few and far between. Perhaps designer Rejina Pyo’s designs are making the case for daytime dresses again. There’s something about a slightly full skirt that feels easy – not too constricted and simple enough for the city. But then the shift always feels right – loose and straight to the point. I think what makes a dress work is keeping something casual about the ensemble – a sneaker for all the walking or nondescript jewelry, so the dress is the main focus.
