Picking a swimsuit can be incredibly intimidating. The ruffles, the bedazzled triangle tops, and the tassels that come undone every time you even TRY to catch a wave (because let’s face it, catching a wave is hard – board or body. I look like a baby seal taking its first leap into the water when I do it. Just me? Ok.) Frankly, I am over it. I just want to wear simple pieces that look great and feel as sophisticated as Jackie O. at the beach with a scarf wrapped around my head just so. Is that too much to ask for?
Swim is coming back down to earth, where it belongs. Made for real women, with real curves, and real bodies that should not be adorned like a cellphone from the early 2000’s. Simple silhouettes, delicate details, earthy tones, and forgiving seams are the cream of the crop amongst this season’s swim and I am loooooving it.
Let’s not forget though, a day at the beach involves more than your choice of swim, it’s the full look. The overall vibe of your beach attire should ooze every ounce of sophistication you uphold in your daily wardrobe. And with brands like Toteme and Matteau, it’s not hard to do so anymore. THANK YOU, SWIM GODS.
So, when I found out we were taking a trip to LA, I told Veronica that she MUST get me to Malibu to make my swim dreams come true. And that is exactly what this is – my ideal day at the beach, in an ideal location, and a laid back chick in my absolute favorite beach approved pieces on the market right now.
