Mules Made for Walking

4 years ago by

Can you feel it? That funny little hint of spring poking around in the air, leaving us with a very complicated weather forecast that we must navigate our wardrobes around. I’ve always deemed shoes the most difficult part of such a process. Can I show ankle, do I need socks, are boots too heavy for the rest of my outfit, will I be walking or seen enough for any of this to really matter? For a serial ankle shower like myself (they demand to be liberated at least once a week), it is pertinent to my survival of this very strange in-between season that I find a shoe with room for compromise. Enter the mule – a boot, pump, loafer hybrid that will make getting dressed for a partly sunny, possibly rainy, but also likely to drop to 45 degrees day a little bit easier.

The boot-like style of this pair from Nanushka is ideal for pairing with socks or a long pant when a day is leaning toward the chillier side. Or, leave em' alone and let that pretty, mirrored heel shine.

I love the simplicity of Neous' soft black leather and classic front silhouette, making this pair a more interesting and comfortable alternative to your every day black pump.

A wavy, white style like this is meant to make a statement, yet it's still versatile enough to pair with dresses and jeans alike. Plus the little ankle band gives you the help you need to get around town without loosing a shoe. Thank you, Proenza!

  • Great round up! Living in NYC, it is so important that we are able to walk long distances in our shoes (and still look great!) :)

  • I love mules. I have been looking for the perfect pair. I love the architectural design of the mules shared. GORGEOUS AND FUNCTIONAL.

  • Is it possible to walk in mules? They look amazing but also like they are bound to fly off any minute. Its a real question as I love how they look but I wonder…

  • I love mules. That is all I ever wear. I find them to be quite sensual, maybe because of the exposed heel? I spend my evenings searching the internet for different styles so this selection is really gratifying. Thank you.
