Last week I had the immense pleasure of moderating a little chit-chat in the Atelier with Kerrilynn Pamer and Cindy DiPrima Morisee, founders of CAP Beauty. We invited them, along with some members of our community, to talk clean beauty and wellness in celebration of the publication of their first book, High Vibrational Beauty: Recipes and Rituals for Radical Self Care.
Leading up to the event, whenever I would casually drop the name, CAP Beauty, whoever I was speaking with would interrupt me, grab my forearm, look me square in the eye and say, “OH-MY-GOD. I LOVE CAP BEAUTY.” Seriously. It happened every single time.
These ladies have cult status with devotees of the clean beauty industry and CAP’s motto, “Beauty is Wellness,” encapsulates why. They believe beauty and wellness can (and should) be enjoyed by all and nothing screams that more than their rose quartz infused store and spa in the West Village. It is both inviting, informative, synthetic free, and high on vibrational vibes. But above anything else, it’s inclusive.
High Vibrational Beauty: Recipes and Rituals for Radical Self Care expands on CAP’s motto by pairing some of the most inspiring (or deliciously “naughty” as Kerrilynn and I like to say) photography with food and beauty recipes for that radical self care we all need and deserve year round. I’ve read it cover it cover (with a face mask on, naturally) and it is CHOCK FULL of digestible beauty and wellness nuggets.
Attendees of the event were lucky enough to snack on some of the recipes from the book, prepared by Mary Ellen Amato, including “Arigato! Match Coins” which I had to refrain from stealing the whole bowl and popping them in my mouth like Mario Kart’s Gold Coins. If you live in New York I highly recommend making the trek out to Red Hook to check out Mary Ellen’s new restaurant, Rita.
If you want to stay in the loop about other upcoming events at the Atelier join our community on Facebook here! And if you missed out on the CAP Beauty event, you can still see just how big my hand gestures are (I was an air traffic controller in a past life, I swear) and watch Cindy and Kerrilynn talk about what inspired CAP Beauty and how they divide and conquer as work wives here!
