Ok, I didn’t know who Sigmar Polke was before I saw his work on Instagram…

But please don’t judge! The point is, it piqued my interest. That image had such incredible colors that I had to have more.

He is known for giving pop art a sharp political edge. He was a painter, photographer, and printmaker and one of the founders of the Capitalist Realist movement in the 1960s.

Lucky for me, there is a Sigmar Polke retrospective happening at the MoMA! I know where I’ll be this Saturday: taking in some German art inspiration!

Sigmar Polke, April 19-August 3, 2014, MoMA 11 W 53rd Street, New York
